ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Stephen Okechukwu Chikeziri Onwuka is a seasoned diplomat and global leadership practitioner with extensive experience in interfacing among international organizations, governments, and diplomatic missions. He has built a distinguished career in protocol management and international relations, fostering effective partnerships and facilitating seamless collaborations between multilateral institutions and their diverse stakeholders.
Born on November 11, 1965, in Bori, Ogoni (now Rivers State, Nigeria), Steve is the second child of Joseph and Lilian Onwuka. His family was displaced during the Nigerian civil War, returning to their hometown, Nkwerre, Imo State, where he completed his primary and secondary education. From an early age, Seteve displayed remarkable creative talent - excelling in public speaking, writing, drama, debate, and quiz competitions, earning numerous laurels for his schools and the admiration of teachers and peers alike. His passion for communication naturally guided his academic anfd professional journey.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Languages and Linguistics (English) from the University of Calabar (1991), an MBA in Global Leadership from the University of Liverpool, England, and an Academic Certificate , with honours , in Changing Global Order from the University of Leiden, The Netherlands. he began his career in the Nigerian Public Service in 1993, serving for 13 yeears in various capacities before joining the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in 2008, where he currently serves as the Chief of Protocol.

• Senior Manager, Public Relations, National health Insurance Scheme (NHIS)
• Assistant Chief of Protocol, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA)
• Principal Protocol Officer (Chief of Protocol), ECOWAS Commission Notable Achievements
• Instrumental in transforming Abuja Today from an in-house journal into a national newspaper; edited three major beats - Business, Property, and Showbiz.
• Led massive grassroots mobilization under FEAP, enabling over 500,000 residents to access cottage industry loans.
• As Public Relations Manager at NHIS, played a played a key role in expanding enrolment to over 12 million Nigerians through strategic awareness campaigns.
• As Events Manager at ICC and Eagle Square, spearheaded a marketing reform that increased revenue by over 800%

A gifted public speaker and communicator, Steve is frequently invited to serve as Master of Ceremonies at high-profile national events. He is known for his eloquence and commitment to excellence, often quoting, "Who God has favoured to stand before Kings must be diligent at work"
To his children, he advises: "Never join in killing the reading culture, even while you embrace the internet and motion pictures".
To his nation, he declares: "Never abandon your dreams - for no nation did, and still became great".
